01

Why location changes the date

Ekadashi is identified from the tithi present at local sunrise. A city can therefore observe a different civil date from India or another country, especially across large time-zone differences.

02

How Parana is reviewed

When the next local sunrise falls in Dwadashi, the window begins after both sunrise and Hari Vasara and closes at the earlier of Dwadashi end or the first third of daytime.

03

Tradition still matters

Smarta, Vaishnava and ISKCON observance rules can differ. Two-sunrise tithi sequences are clearly flagged so the website does not silently choose one lineage for everyone.

HEALTH-FIRST

Fast with care—not pressure

Fasting is voluntary. Children, older adults, people who are pregnant, have diabetes, take medication or have another health concern should follow medical advice and may choose a gentle meal, prayer, seva or another safe observance instead.

METHOD

Transparent calculation boundary

Dates are derived from the existing city calendar calculation using the listed coordinates, IANA time zone, daylight-saving rules and local sunrise. These pages are traditional planning guides, not scientific, medical or compulsory ritual advice.

FAQ

Common Ekadashi questions

Why is my Ekadashi date different from India?

The tithi interval is global, but the sunrise and civil date used to select the observance are local to each city.

Is every Parana time shown automatically?

No. A window is shown only when the next-morning Dwadashi sequence produces a valid review interval; otherwise the page asks you to confirm.

Can I follow an ISKCON or temple calendar instead?

Yes. Follow the sampradaya, family or temple calendar you trust, especially where the page flags a two-sunrise sequence.
