Which sign should you read?

In Vedic astrology, general transit-based horoscopes are commonly read from the Moon sign. The Moon is associated with the mind, emotions and everyday responses, so Moon-sign guidance may feel more relevant to daily experience.

If you do not know your Moon sign, it can be calculated from your date, accurate time and place of birth. A sign derived only from the first letter of a name may not be reliable.

Sun sign, Moon sign and ascendant

  • The Sun sign is associated with identity, confidence and a broad sense of purpose.
  • The Moon sign reflects emotional nature, habits and everyday reactions.
  • The ascendant is a major reference for personality, the physical self and the outward direction of life.

Three rules for reading a horoscope

  • Do not treat one sentence as an absolute truth; place it in the context of your real circumstances.
  • Avoid fear-based interpretations. Useful astrology should encourage awareness and preparation, not anxiety.
  • Do not make major career, investment, health or relationship decisions from a general horoscope alone.

Why is a personal birth chart different?

Millions of people share the same Moon sign, but their lives are not identical. Planetary placements, houses, aspects, dashas and present circumstances differ in every birth chart. A general horoscope offers a collective theme; a personal consultation considers how that theme relates to your own chart.

Use a daily horoscope as a small window for reflection, not as the final authority over your life.
